Please join us for a film examining the life of Bayard Rustin (1912-1987), a human rights advocate whose social activism and commitment to the philosophy of nonviolent resistance influenced the course of the modern Civil Rights movement. While Rustin is perhaps best known as an adviser to Martin Luther King Jr. and co-organizer of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, he was also an openly gay man whose broad view of diversity and refusal to hide his sexuality made him the target of criticism and frequently marked him as a "brother outsider" in the struggle for Black equality.
